During a visit to my father's house when Lucas was 5 months old I met Nicolas Mignani, who was organizing a show for a 12th Century Chapel in the nearby town of Clermont l'Herault. The theme was to be about Place.
I developed the series begun at World Trade Center into a site specific installation which sought to superimpose on place, one interpretation of verticality, into the other.
A 15 panel, 15 x 15 foot, virtual room was suspended in the center of the chapel, giving one a double reading of 2 takes on verticality. One the quite secular space of New York City, the other a religious relation to God embodied in the chapel itself.
In addition I painted a 4 panel piece designed to fit into the Choir, which later became a preferred format of mine.
